The Two Five Foundation, previously known as Two Five Trust, began its philanthropic work by selecting higher education as its initial focus area. After evaluating various public and private universities against a predetermined set of criteria, we ultimately chose the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) due to its existing need-based scholarship infrastructure, which allowed us to launch our project in a transparent and confident manner. Our internal workings involved the careful assessment of student lists, academic records, and family financial situations, which were all shared among the team to ensure a thorough evaluation process.
Given that this was our first project, we felt it was appropriate to honor our Shaheed course mates by naming the scholarships after them. As such, the two scholarships are known as the Fl Lt Imran Tariq Shaheed scholarship and Wg Cdr Nauman Akram Shaheed scholarship.
The launch event for these scholarships, including the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), took place in October 2021 at NUST, with one of the university’s directors in attendance. In addition, we were honored to host the families of both our Shaheed course mates. The event began in the auditorium, where we introduced our trust, and was followed by speeches from the families and the NUST Director. The MoU was then signed, and a group photo was taken. Finally, to commemorate the occasion, a tree plantation ceremony was held at NUST.
Overall, the Two Five Foundation’s launch of need-based scholarships at NUST serves as a testament to our commitment to higher education and our desire to honor those who have made significant sacrifices in service to their country.
